What female actress played in singing in the rain?
Debbie Reynolds plays Kathy Selden, the female lead, in the 1952 Singin’ in the Rain starring Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor.
Reynolds had her own TV show, The Debbie Reynolds Show which aired from 1969-1970. She was also in the films Charlotte’s Web (1973) and The Bodyguard (1992), and has been on numerous TV shows, including Rugrats, Family Guy and Will and Grace.
During the filming of Singin’ in the Rain, Fred Astaire, who wasn’t in the film but was just hanging around, found Reynolds crying under a piano. Reynolds was upset after Gene Kelly insulted her for not being able to dance. Astaire then helped Reynolds with her dancing.
Reynolds will be headlining a Turner Classic Movies (TCM) cruise out of Miami in January 2013.
