What does it mean when your tongue goes numb

Not Medical Advice: Paresthesia of the tongue is the medical term for numbness or tingling sensations in the tongue. Numbness and tingle sensations can occur as a result of dental surgery or procedures like implants, root canals, and wisdom teeth extraction that damage the lingual nerve. Other causes of a numb or tingly tongue include multiple sclerosis, burning mouth syndrome, medications, oral burns, a brain tumor, stroke, facial nerve problems and Bell’s Palsy.
