What does excess crust around the eye mean?
Not Medical Advice: A thick yellow or green discharge that forms a crust over the eyelashes is a symptom of conjunctivitis, also known as pinkeye. Other symptoms include: itchy/burning eyes, blurred vision, redness of the eye, sensitivity to light and blurred vision. Causes of conjunctivitis include allergies to pollen or dust, bacteria (gonorrhea, chlamydia), viruses, and irritants like smoke, chlorine, dirt or shampoos. Bacterial conjunctivitis is treated with antibiotics (pills, eye drops, ointments).
