The Blood Moon travels through the sky in the month of October. During a Blood Moon the veil between our world and the spirit world are at its thinnest, according to Wicca/Paganism. This time is said to be the best time for spiritual growth. It's also the best month to contact the deceased, hold seances, work on your divination and to pay close attention to the messages in your dreams.
The Wiccan religion is touted by supporters as a very peaceful, harmonious and balanced way of life which promotes oneness with the divine and all which exists. Wicca is a belief system and way of life based upon the reconstruction of pre-Christian traditions originating in Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
Earlier this month, the federal prison agency in British Columbia put out a request for a proposal for a Wiccan chaplain who would provide about 17 hours of service a month to the prisoners. However, Vic Toews the Public Safety Minister nixed the idea one hour after the Canadian Press reported on the contract. Julie Carmichael, director of communications for the minister, said in an email "However, the government is not convinced all services offered through the chaplaincy program reflect an appropriate use of taxpayer dollars." This would have been available as part of the prison system's roster of available spiritual services.
