On the charges of perjury and obstruction of justice, Bill Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives on December 19, 1998. When he was tried by the Senate, he was acquitted. This was only the 2nd impeachment in US history, the first being the impeachment of Andrew Johnson, who was acquitted by the Senate as well. PBS is airing a new documentary on the life of Clinton.
