There were 5 members in the r&b group troop now there are 4. What happened to the 5th?

The quintet known as Troop, or Total Respect Of Other People consists of Steven Russell, Allen McNeil, Jon Jon Harreld, Rodney Benford, and Reggie Warren.

In the recently concluded Bet Awards 2014 (watch video below), the group performed without Allen. According to Steve on his Instagram page, Allen quit the group to go solo.

Troop ruled the airwaves in the late 80s into the early 90s. After releasing Mayday in 1998, Troop took a hiatus to pursue individual endeavors working behind the scenes on various writing, producing, collaborations, and other projects.

Steven Russell is the pen behind the sound that you hear on the radio today. As a member The Underdogs production, Russell has worked on projects for artists including Beyoncé, Brian McKnight, Aretha Franklin, Justin Timberlake, just to name a few.
