State the cell theory.
The cell theory says all living organism are made up of cells and that they may be unicellular or multicellular. It also states that the cell is the "basic unit of life" and that new cells are born when old ones divide in two. The modern theory includes the ideas that metabolism and biochemistry occurs within cells, DNA is passed from cell to cell, and that all cells in organisms of similar species have the same basic chemical composition.
