OSHA definition of catastrophe?
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) definition of catastrophe is "an accident in which two or more employees are fatally injured, or three or more employees are admitted to a hospital or an equivalent medical facility."
The OSHA requires that any "work-related death of any employee or the in-patient hospitalization of three or more employees" must be reported within 8 hours.
Employers must report the incident to the OSHA by telephone or by visiting the local office. They may also call 1-800-321-OSHA (1-800-321-6742).
