Is 136 over 87 good blood pressure

Not Medical Advice:

A blood pressure reading of 137/87 is not a good level, it is labelled as Pre-Hypertension, or High Normal.

This means that while you are not classified as suffering from hypertension (a reading of 140/90 or higher), your blood pressure is higher then it should be; higher than what a doctor would expect for a healthy adult.

Pre-hypertension can lead to heart attacks and strokes at a higher rate than those with a lower blood pressure.

Unless there are other risk factors, a reading of 136/87 may not require immediate treatment, but it can be a sign that lifestyle changes are needed to help prevent a full blown case of hypertension. It also means that you should have your blood pressure checked on a regular basis to make sure that the readings are not increasing to more dangerous levels.

Speak with your doctor about any and all blood pressure concerns.

Time magazine recently reported that a review of 20 health studies found that people eating small amounts of dark chocolate had lower blood pressure readings.
