If the difference between two numbers is 12 and the larger number is 2 less than 3 times the smaller number what are the two numbers?
In algebra the solution would be: (3x - 2) - x = 12 (x being the smaller number & 3x-2 is the larger number. The value of x would be 7 and 3x-2 is 19.
