Heavyweight actor Michael Clarke Duncan never officially disclosed how much he could max on the bench press, but he did make a comment about benching 600lbs.
Before making it as an actor, the 6’4” 315lb. Duncan worked as a body guard in the music industry. One night he switched clients with a fellow body guard. The client Duncan let his friend guard was The Notorious B.I.G. on the night the rapper was shot and killed. Duncan quit the business after hearing his friend talk about the incident the next day.
Duncan burst into the acting world playing John Coffey in The Green Mile and continued to act in high profile title’s like The Whole Nine Yards and the remake of Planet of the Apes.
The so-called gentle giant died at L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on September 3, 2012 at the age of 54. His death was attributed to complications from a heart attack in July from which he never recovered.
