The adoption fee at the Villalobos Rescue Center is $200.
This fee is used to offset the cost of preparing the dog for adoption; each dog is spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped to aid in identifying the dog should it get lost, and free training for life from the VRC.
Spaying and neutering is a requirement, and they do not offer the option of "un-altered dogs."
They will also adopt into homes that have no more than one dog, and they highly recommend puppies in these circumstances; in the case of owning a dog you will need to bring the dog to the VRC to test-meet the potential new adopted dog.
Unfortunately they closed their California location at the end of 2012, but they do offer out-of-state adoptions; the added costs for the personally driven dog typically range from $500 to $1,000 on top of the adoption fee.
