Microsoft has not publicly announced exact prices for its wifi-only Surface Tablet, but sources close to the company say the Windows RT Model will cost around $599 and the Intel-based Surface Pro with Windows 8 Pro version will sell for around $999.

The new tablets will have a 10.6-inch display, a kickstand for tabletop viewing, and an ultra-thin keyboard case that attaches with magnets. The Windows RTs will be about 1.5 pounds and 0.36-inches thick. The Surface Pro will weigh just a little under 2 pounds and be around half-an-inch thick.

Microsoft says that it expects to release the Surface Tablet later in 2012, but no exact date has been revealed. Some day in October is widely speculated with the Windows 8 Pro version shipping 3 months after the release of the RT version.
