How many countries have IHOPs in them

IHOP (The International House of Pancakes) has a world dominating presence—in four countries. Well, mostly just the US and a few other locations abroad. Technically that is international.

There are two locations in Guatemala, thirteen in Mexico and nineteen in Canada. The rest of the 1,550 “international” locations are in the US including two in Puerto Rico and one in the US Virgin Islands.

IHOP has been serving up buttermilk pancakes (and blueberry and chocolate chip and strawberry…) since the first location opened in 1958 in Toluca Lake, CA. By 1960 the company was being franchised; a practice still very much in place today with 99% of IHOPs being franchised locations.

Just recently, PepsiCo signed a contract with IHOP to serve their soft drinks exclusively.
