Queen Elizabeth has been in power for 60 years which is currently the second longest for a British monarch. Queen Victoria held the crown for 63 years. Queen Elizabeth’s reign began on 6 February 1952 at the age of 26. Her coronation took place on 2 June 1953.

The Queen is the “Head of State of the UK and 15 other Commonwealth realms.” She is married to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The two have 4 children and 8 grandchildren.

Filming for the Queen’s acting debut as the newest Bond girl seen during the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony took place at the palace in March and April of 2012 and included Monty and Holly, two of her corgi dogs.
