How long before you can eat solid foods after getting your wisdom teeth removed?

Not medical advice: It is recommended to not eat any solid food for the first 24 hours after a wisdom tooth extraction. After that time, patients can resume solid, but preferably soft foods as much as they can tolerate. It is recommended to stay away from hot, spicy or chewy foods that may irritate the extraction site. More solid foods can be added gradually as the healing progresses.

The use of straws and smoking cigarettes should also be avoided, as the sucking can cause the blood clot healing the extraction site to loosen and the healing process must start over.
