How did blake sheltons brother die?

On November 13, 1990, Blake Shelton's older brother, Richie Shelton, died in a car accident. Blake was only 14 at the time.

Shelton and his wife Miranda Lambert co-wrote a song about his death called Over You. Lambert recorded the song and it won Song of the Year at the Country Music Awards recently. Shelton said he had always wanted to write a song about his brother, but he couldn't perform it because he knew he wouldn't be able to sing it live every night.

In addition to the Song of the Year award, Blake was recently crowned CMA Entertainer of the Year at the award event on November 1, 2012. He also received his third consecutive Male Vocalist of the Year award.
