How can i get rid of fordyces spots?

Not medical advice: There is no cure for Fordyce spots, but there are methods of temporary treatment.

Tretinoin is known to shorten the duration of an outbreak. It is available as a gel or cream.

A Trichloroacetic acid chemical peel can be used to remove the affected skin. This can significantly lessen the appearance of the spots. However, if treatment is administered around the mouth, the area can become very sensitive and require frequent moisturizing. If regular chemical peels are not performed, the spots are expected to return.

Cryosurgery can be used to freeze off the spots. This form of treatment carries risks of tissue and nerve damage.

Fordyce spots are also known as sebaceous prominence. They are not infectious or contagious. They do not cause any pain or produce any discharge. They are little more than a superficial inconvenience caused by naturally occurring oil trying to get to the surface of the skin.

Fordyce spots will eventually go away on their own but can return at any time.
