How big is north Korea compared to any of the united states land/ population?

North Korea has an area of 120,538 sq km. 120,408 sq km is land and 130 sq km is water. The country's area is slightly smaller than that of Mississippi. North Korea has an approximate population of 24,720,407.

The United States is much larger than North Korea with an area of 9,826,675 sq km. 9,161,966 sq km is land and 664,709 sq km is water. The country's area is about half the size of South America (or slightly larger than Brazil), slightly larger than China, about half the size of Russia, more than twice the size of the European Union, and about three-tenths the size of Africa. The United States has a population larger than North Korea with approximately 316,668,567 inhabitants.

Of interest, North Korea recently declared a state of war against South Korea and promised nuclear war against the United States. In response to the threats, the United States sent the destroyer USS Fitzgerald, which is capable of intercepting and destroying a missile to the South Korea/North Korea region along with F-22 Raptor stealth fighter jets.
