No, no human has ever been to the planet Mars. There have been seven unmanned rovers launched to Mars to collect data and information on the planet. Of the 7, only the 4 launched by the US, Sojourner, Spirit, Opportunity and Curiosity have been successful.

The latest rover, Curiosity, landed successfully on Mars on August 6, 2012. One of the goals of the Curiosity mission is to determine if Mars ever supported any life forms. This information and data would also help in any future planned manned missions.

NASA chief, Charles Bolden, estimates that a manned mission to Mars will occur in the 2030s via a joint effort between the US and its international partners.
