Long ago the Egyptians & Romans did believe that a vital blood vessel ran between the ring finger of the left hand & the heart, they referred to it as the "vena amori," or "the vein of love." This is why the tradition of wearing the wedding ring on that finger symbolizes eternal love. Modern day medical science shows that there is no such vein, however the tradition of wearing a wedding ring on the ring finger remains today.
