Does peppermint extract go bad ?

Most flavoring extracts are quite volatile and with the peppermint flavoring, it can evaporate. Peppermint extract (pure, commercially bottled, unopened or opened) tend to have a shelf life of up to 4 years (stored in a cool, dark cupboard, keeping tightly closed when not in use).

The exception to this is pure vanilla extract which, if stored in a cool dark place and tightly sealed, can last indefinitely and even improve with age.

Have peppermint growing in your garden? Go pick some, and use it to make your own peppermint extract. MyFrugalHome.com shares how to make peppermint extract.
