Did they have inhalers in the 50's?

The pressurized inhaler that we use today to treat asthma was invented in 1955 by Dr George Maison.

His daughter who suffered from asthma was struggling to breath and he realized that storing medication inside a pressurized canister would help the medication get to the lungs quickly.

The inhaler was originally invented in 1778 by John Mudge and was used to inhale opium vapor to treat coughs. Nebulizers were developed in France in the 1800s and were used to deliver medications in a liquid spray.
