Subway

The Subway Sandwich shop was founded by a 17 year old entrepreneur named Fred DeLuca who wanted to become a medical doctor, and to fund this goal he opened a submarine sandwich shop as a friend suggested. DeLuca and that friend, Dr. Peter Buck, partnered up to open their first store in August of 1965 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. By 1974 they owned and operated a total of 16 sandwich shops in Connecticut and decided to franchise the business in order to reach their goal of owning 32 shops. Today the chain owns more than 34,000 stores, and is the largest sub chain in the world. They feature all types of sandwiches from BLTs to Buffalo Chicken, to Steak, Bacon, and Eggs.
