Sources suggest that the Kindle Fire cannot get a virus from the Internet because of its Android Linux-based OS. Still others say that virus protection from either Antivirus AVG, Avast mobile security, Dr. Web Anti-Virus Light, VirusTotal, or PermissionDog are a must if you are an avid Internet surfer and like to download apps.

Rumor has it that two versions of the Kindle Fire 2 will be available for sale on July 31, 2012 with a price hovering near $199. The 7-inch tablets are said to have a matte black metal body instead of a plastic one like the existing Kindle Fire, along with microUSB ports, HDMI-out jacks, and either a 1,024 x 600 or a 1,280 x 800 pixels display.

A third 7-inch tablet version is reported to have 4G capabilities and has a speculated release date of September 2012.
