Are the Menendez Brothers still in prison?

Yes, the Menendez brothers, Erik (born November 27, 1970), and Lyle (born January 10, 1968), are still in prison. They were convicted of killing their parents on August 20, 1989 in the den of their mansion in Beverly Hills California.

The brothers admitted to killing their parents during their first trial, but the juries (one for each brother) were deadlocked after hearing the defense argue that the act was committed after years of sexual abuse at the hands of the parents.

In the retrial the jury rejected this defense and convicted them of two counts each of conspiracy to commit murder, and first-degree murder. The jury sentenced them to life in prison with no chance of parole.

Recently House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said that Attorney General Eric Holder was a bit like the Menendez brothers in the way he dismissed his contempt charge as "reckless."
